Chris Cantell behadelt Die Forschung: Verloren und gefunden
by Barbora Haramiova

Waren Sie schon mal in Ägypten?

Chris Cantell Discusses Research: Perdida y encontrada
by Dominika Haberova

Chris Cantell Discusses Research: Izgubeno i najdeno
by Zivka Deleva

Dali nekogaš ste bile vo Egipet? Dali nekogaš ste gi videle Egipetskite piramidi?

The humanity, creation or evolution

World, you surprise me everyday. Created by God or a result of the Big-Bang, the planet that we inhabit makes me shiver in contentment and gasp of surprise. There are so many wonders, that we could sit back and review the historical and geographical panorama. A famous writer said that there are not greater wonders than human being. I don't know if it is true, but the supposition that only we have a mean of communication and reflection definitely doesn't stand anymore. Psychologists Erica Cartmill and Richard Byrne at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland proved that there are other species on the planet that can communicate and have a conscience. Moreover, intentional communication appeared long before mankind. They conducted a research on six adult female orangutans in zoos by trying to play charades- a way to reach a commune understanding regarding the meaning of certain sounds, gestures or symbols. You act out a word or phrase using only body language in order for the other players to guess, this is the game charades. Usually gestures that have already worked are repeated and honed and those that did not are abandoned. The apes acted the same way like we did and used the same techniques with the purpose of getting the goodies (bananas or whole-grain bread). After the first experiment, the apes started to treat everything like a game of winning. This sort of discoveries really makes me think. Although Darwin might seem to be right in his evolutionist theory, I still refuse to give up to the idea that there is a greater force out there that watches over us. The fact that apes can communicate only shows that we should not be so proud and think that we are unique on this planet. There are beings out there that could amaze us with their intelligence. Apes' way of communication just shows how important is this attribute and reveals mechanisms humanity's ancestors used in developing the language. I'm thankful for that, so: Cheers to you, homo sapiens sapiens!

About Forecasting
by Kamila Moravcikova

Iâ•˙m really bad in predicting or thinking forward. Everything that includes ╲long term╡ notion seems suspiciously to me. And I donâ•˙t even usually believe the forecasts! I know I should change this  because it makes my life much harder. Just fancy, I donâ•˙t believe the weather forecast so I usually spend all day shivering, because itâ•˙s cold and freezing and all I have is tiny jacket that cannot save me from the cruel weather. And the fashion! I donâ•˙t care what expert say thatâ•˙s going to be trendy the next season. How could they know for sure? Maybe they are as bad in anticipating as I am! This my idea usually leads to the fact that I buy some really expensive stuff and few weeks later I just realize that Iâ•˙d better throw it away as itâ•˙s desperately out-of-date. All this is result of my lack of foresight, strategy and mistrustfulness. Do you know where youâ•˙ll be next year?  Where youâ•˙d like to be? Whatâ•˙s going to be your next move? Or maybe the question should be put like this. Where you should be next year? Can you see your options and choose the best one? It can be funny that I cannot anticipate at all, that I donâ•˙t have strategy, but there are much more important things in life than being out of fashion or choosing unsuitable clothes. What about the future? What about the money? What should I do to ensure some reasonable standard of living in future? How to invest my property not to realize that I am broke at the end of the day? Well, there are people that really know what to do today to be satisfied tomorrow and itâ•˙s their job to do so as they are foreseeing, long headed, long term oriented. And if you were not gifted in this way, youâ•˙d better believe them and take their advice as I would.

Vehicle interaction test center to be opened
by Ioana Madalina Tantareanu

Officials announced on Tuesday that a research center will be opened in Ann Harbour by The Center for Automotive Research and the Connected Vehicle Trade Association, to test a new technology which allows vehicles to interact in order to make highways safer. The two parts will be aided by the state with a sum of $3.1 million, in order to allow advanced testing and evaluation of this new vehicle connecting technology. According to officials that attended a conference in Traverse City, the program will include vehicle to vehicle signals, to let drivers know about hard braking or stopping ahead of them, and signals that will be sent to vehicles about lane changes, road construction or emergency vehicles. Also it is known that The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the state Department of Transportation will also be supporting the testing. Car safety became an issue almost immediately after the invention of the automobile, when Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot crashed his steam-powered "Fardier" against a wall in 1771. One of the earliest recorded automobile fatalities was Mary Ward, on August 31, 1869 in Parsonstown, Ireland. Major factors in accidents include driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs; inattentive driving; crash compatibility between vehicles; driving while fatigued or unconscious; encounters with road hazards such as snow, potholes, and crossing animals; or reckless driving. A system to help avoid all these deathtraps, by signaling the responsible driver about what is ahead of him and what he should expect is definately worth all the effort and investment necessary.
