The humanity, creation or evolution

World, you surprise me everyday. Created by God or a result of the Big-Bang, the planet that we inhabit makes me shiver in contentment and gasp of surprise. There are so many wonders, that we could sit back and review the historical and geographical panorama. A famous writer said that there are not greater wonders than human being. I don't know if it is true, but the supposition that only we have a mean of communication and reflection definitely doesn't stand anymore. Psychologists Erica Cartmill and Richard Byrne at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland proved that there are other species on the planet that can communicate and have a conscience. Moreover, intentional communication appeared long before mankind. They conducted a research on six adult female orangutans in zoos by trying to play charades- a way to reach a commune understanding regarding the meaning of certain sounds, gestures or symbols. You act out a word or phrase using only body language in order for the other players to guess, this is the game charades. Usually gestures that have already worked are repeated and honed and those that did not are abandoned. The apes acted the same way like we did and used the same techniques with the purpose of getting the goodies (bananas or whole-grain bread). After the first experiment, the apes started to treat everything like a game of winning. This sort of discoveries really makes me think. Although Darwin might seem to be right in his evolutionist theory, I still refuse to give up to the idea that there is a greater force out there that watches over us. The fact that apes can communicate only shows that we should not be so proud and think that we are unique on this planet. There are beings out there that could amaze us with their intelligence. Apes' way of communication just shows how important is this attribute and reveals mechanisms humanity's ancestors used in developing the language. I'm thankful for that, so: Cheers to you, homo sapiens sapiens!
